The Origin of Cherry Blossom-shaped Gold Leaf

The cherry blossom-petal-shaped gold leaf in the special Kinkamo Tsuru sake was actually square when it was first released. In 1974, when Emperor Showa and Empress Michiko celebrated their golden wedding anniversary, they cut gold foil into the shape of cherry blossom petals, floated them on wine glasses, and toasted together. This is a creative idea. At that time, each piece of gold foil was handmade and cut and decorated in the shape of petals. This honor has long been passed down in Kamo Crane, and has also been used in commercially available products since 1997. The gold leaf of Kingamotsuru was formed into the shape of cherry blossom petals and is still in use today.
